Newsletter - Dragon Moto Tours - Issue 4 - 2014

We’re not quite sure where the month of March has gone??? but…… gone it has and our touring season starts in earnest this month with our first tour of the year – North Wales and in particular the Isle of Anglesey and Snowdonia.  Before then we have our second ride-out of the year on the 6th April, a research trip to Ireland ahead of a 2015 tour we have planned and Geraint has 5 assessments – so likely to be a busy month for us!

On the subject of the next ride-out, we trust you have seen the details published on our website and in particular the fact that we are a) making a charge of £5 per motorcycle to cover admin costs and b) limiting the numbers to 35 motorbikes to keep the group to a manageable size.  We appreciate that this is a significant change in the way we run our ride-outs and when the details were posted on the website we did ask for notification if you would like to join us on this and future ride-outs.  At the time of issue of this letter we already have had notification for the maximum of 35 bikes but we are holding a reserve list and will notify on a “first come, first served”  basis should spaces become available, so if you have not already notified us but would like to be considered, please send us an e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. For the ride-out on the 16th March, we were blessed with fantastic weather when we rode through the Shropshire Hills and visited Ironbridge.  We had 51 bikes turn up to join us on the day and we would like to thank Andy who took a “sub-group” of 14 bikes for us on our route but all riding about 10 minutes ahead, it was good that we could then all meet up at our pre-arranged coffee and lunch stops.  Photos from the day can be found on our facebook page by clicking on the link below:-

At the beginning of March we joined Kawasaki on their stand at the Scottish Bike Show.  The event was well attended and it was great to say hello to several of you who came to see us and also to meet so many new people.  We have also attended a couple of other events this month, one was the launch day of the North Wales Motorcyclists at Airbus, Broughton and the most recent on the 29th when we joined Motorcycle Centre Orrell for their Kawasaki Winners Weekend Open day.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank the organisers of both events for making us so welcome.

Some of you may already know that Jan participated in a days off-road riding on the 12th March with the Mick Extance Kawasaki Experience.  Jan completed the day with 3 other girls, Aimee and Eleanor from Kawasaki Motors UK and Suzy from BikeWorld.  Suzy has a wealth of experience on two wheels, Aimee had ridden a bike for about 1 hour a few years ago and Eleanor had never been on a bike!!!!!  Aimee and Eleanor were riding up over the mountains and on the forest tracks within an hour of starting the bikes which just goes to show that you do not need previous experience to thoroughly enjoy the day.  The day was filmed by BikeWorld and was shown on Sky channel 447 the following Thursday – Geraint even made a cameo appearance as an extra in some of the footage!!!!  If you would like more details about off-road riding, please visit  …….. or alternatively the following details may be of interest to you:-

We are pleased to announce that we have two additional tour dates for this year – June 15th to 17th and 31st August to 2nd September – these will be a tour of North & Mid Wales including a day off-road riding with Mick Extance.  The format will be a road tour on days 1 and 3 with the off-road riding on day 2.  We shall be staying at the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel and Spa which is an award winning 4* hotel overlooking the lake. The package will include dinner, bed and breakfast and on the second evening, Mick will not only be showcasing photos taken during the day but he will also be giving a talk on his experiences from riding in seven Dakar Rallies.  We have also considered that some may wish to join this tour but not participate in the off-road riding and we have options available which include the opportunity to make use of the hotel facilities such as the spa before enjoying a light lunch or alternatively join us on a days ride-out.  The number of participants on the off-road experience day will be limited to a maximum of 12 riders will be able to take part in the off-road day, we would, therefore, request that you contact us as soon as possible for further details which will be posted on our website if you would like to join us on either of these tours.

With regard to our other tours for 2014 we can advise that all of our UK and Ireland tours are full with the exception of our Mid Wales tour 3rd to 5th October where we still have some availability.  At the time of writing for our European tours we have some availability on the following tours:-
