Newsletter - Dragon Moto Tours - Issue 5 - 2014

NEWSLETTER ISSUE 5 - 2014

April has been a busy month in the land of the  ’s, we have had a ride-out, a research trip to Ireland, 4 Assessments and our first tour of the year.

Before we continue with this letter, we would like to take the opportunity and thank the weather forecasters for getting it WRONG for our North Wales tour!!!!!  Rain had been forecast for the weekend but apart from some on the last leg of day 1 and a shower for 10 minutes on day 2 we had fab weather to enjoy the excellent motorcycling roads which this part of the world has to offer.  The clear blue skies we did have provided an excellent backdrop to the stunning scenery as we rode on the Isle of Anglesey on Saturday morning, onto the Llyn Peninsula that afternoon and then through the Snowdonia National Park – we were even able to see the café on the top of Snowdon from our Saturday afternoon coffee stop.  It was a pleasure to be joined by 26 of you on this tour.  Photos are available on our website gallery and facebook page and you can find a short blog about the tour also on our website.

We have two more tours during May, the first is to the West Coast of Ireland and over the late May Bank holiday weekend we have our first European tour of the year which is our France, Ride & Dine tour (although some of our pillions are already calling it the “Wine & Dine” tour…… we can’t imagine why??!!)

We had an excellent turn out for our ride-out on the 6th April despite some rain and very mucky and wet roads – in fact at the end of the day all the bikes looked like they had been through several fields rather than ridden on roads!!  Probably because of the forecast, we found we had empty roads as we headed to our morning coffee stop at the Ponderosa café on the Horseshoe Pass, and for the stretch to lunch in the heart of the Tanat Valley we didn’t have a car to overtake…    Two roaring fires had been lit for us at lunch and having been well fed we crossed through the Shropshire Marches to our dispersal point for the day.  We would like to thank all of you joined us that day and photos can be found on our facebook page or by clicking on the photo on our website – www.dragonmototours.co.uk

Our next ride-out is Sunday 18th May when we shall be riding over the Denbigh Moors, details are now on the website and if you would like to join us could you please let us know, at the time of issue of this letter, we do only have space remaining for 3 motorcycles but we also have a reserve list as nearer the time some riders who have already expressed their interest may not be able to join us on the day.

We continue to take bookings for our two new tours for this year which combine 2 days of road touring through Mid and North Wales with one day off-road riding with Mick Extance.  The dates for these are:-
•    June 15th to 17th 2014
•    31st August to 2nd September 2014
Details are now available on the website, the number of participants on the off-road experience day will be limited to a maximum of 12 riders, we would, therefore, request that you contact us as soon as possible if you would like to join us on either of these tours.

We will both be at the BritishSuperBike Championship at Oulton Park on Monday 5th May on the Kawasaki stand if you would like to come along and find out more details about these two tours and also about our remaining tours for 2014.  Currently we have the following availability:-
-    Lakes & Mountains of the Vosges – July 5th to 13th, 3 rooms available
-    Harz Mountains & Romantic Road, Germany  - August 1st to 10th, 3 rooms available
-    Belgium & Luxembourg – September 19th to 22nd, 4 rooms available
-    Mid Wales – October 3rd – 5th, 8 rooms available – we have increased our usual allocation due to the enquiries we have been receiving for this tour.

If any of these tours and/or the Winter Social are appealing to you, could you please let us know so that we can note your interest.

Ahead of our proposed tour of Ireland in 2015 we had a few days over there during April and were very lucky with the weather, in fact at times you would have thought we were riding on the Pacific Coast Highway in California rather than on the Wild Atlantic Coast as it’s called.  As you can see from this photo, not only were the roads excellent but we encountered very little traffic either…….. apart from “My Little Pony”!!!! and as you will see from the link below to our facebook page, it was certainly a battle of wills as to who owned the road!

Geraint has been busy with more Assessment days during April with others booked in for May.  If you would like to hone up on some of your skills and have an assessment day with Geraint please see the details on our website and contact us for more information.
With May having two bank holidays in it, we trust that you have lots of motorcycling planned, whatever you will be doing have fun and keep safe.
