DragonMotoTours - Newsletter Issue 3 - 2015

We open this Newsletter with a “thank you” to everyone who joined us on our first riding event of the year on 22nd March when we visited the RAF Museum at Cosford.  We were lucky to have a dry day with blue skies and a great crowd of riders and pillions – it was a perfect way to kick start our 2015 touring season.  We had a couple of “firsts” on the day:-

1.    Jill and Gail have previously joined us as pillions, however, on this occasion they came along on their own two wheels and as you will see from the photos on our gallery and facebook page they enjoyed their day, (the link for fb is below).

And…..
2.    It was good to welcome Paul, Colin and Dave who have not ridden with us before but are joining us on tours this year – we have told them they can come again as long as they bring the sunshine!!!
There is also a short write up about this ride-out on our Blog page.

Technically the ride-out to Cosford was not our first event of the year as we had our Winter Social on the 28th February.  We had 90 sitting down for dinner that evening and it was a good opportunity to meet up with friends and also for others who have not toured with us before to meet people they will be riding with later this year.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank Chris Geraghty for playing a set for us on his guitar….. although he may have regretted asking for people to get up and sing with him when Geraint joined him for a rendition of “500 Miles” !!!  We promise that he will not attempt to sing on tour……

Speaking of our Tours for 2015, our first one starts on the 17th April when we have 4 days riding in South Wales, followed just over a week later by our first Wales On & Off-Road tour of the year.  With regard to the remaining tours we would like to advise you that we have a few spaces available and these are on the ones shown below:-
- Champagne & Ardennes Tour 1st – 5th May – we do have 1 room available on a double or twin occupancy basis
- Mid Wales Tour 26th – 28th June – 2 spaces available
- Vercors & Morvan Regions of France Tour 21st – 29th August – 3 spaces available

With regard to our other tours please be advised that these are currently fully booked, however, if you wish to be considered for a cancellation should one arise please let us know by e-mailing us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will contact you.

Our Ride-Outs for 2015 are also proving popular with the dates and locations posted on our website.  The next one is on the 10th May and we are already at capacity with expressions of interest for this,  however, if you are interested and wish to be added to the reserve list, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can contact you should we receive any cancellations nearer the time.  Details for meeting points and timings will be posted on the website nearer the time of each ride-out.

Since our last Newsletter Geraint presented “How Do You Read The Road” to the South Cheshire Advanced Motorcyclists at the end of January and more recently to the Norfolk Advanced Motorcyclists.  In early March he delivered “Part 2” of the above presentation which is entitled “Think S” to the Wirral Advanced group.  We would like to thank everyone who attended these evenings and trust that you found them informative.  Should anyone wish to enquire about a date in the future when Geraint can deliver these presentations to your group could you please let us know so that we can diary them in.

Whilst we were in Norfolk for the presentation evening we went over to visit the Norfolk Motorcycle Museum at North Walsham.  If you are ever in that part of the world we would recommend a visit as they have 160 motorcycles on display from the 1920’s onwards.  There were all sorts of motorcycles to look at including BSA’s, Nortons, Rudge and Scotts.  You can find out more about the Museum by visiting http://www.mc-museum.freeserve.co.uk/

Although our 2015 touring season is only now about to start we are already planning ahead for 2016 and were recently out in Germany, Austria and France doing some research, luckily we had decided to go on four wheels rather than two as we were greeted with this sight on one of the mornings!!!!

However, the Europeans seem to have snow “licked”!!! As all the roads were gritted and open and we have found some cracking ones which we will look forward to riding next year….      We are heading over to Ireland just after Easter with two tours planned there for 2016 which we will let you know about in due course.

Geraint has already undertaken some Rider Assessment days and if you would like to re-hone your skills after the winter you can find more details on our website Assessment page or contact us direct either by e-mail or you can phone on 07816 396614.  Prices have been held over from last year at £95 per day for a One-to-One Assessment or £75 per person for a Two-to-One Assessment.

Just before we go, we do have the ’13 plate Versys for sale and if you know of anyone who may be interested, could you ask them to give us a call. It comes fitted with heated grips, centre stand, rad guard and fender extender together with top box and panniers. Mileage is at 15,393.

That brings you upto date with our latest News, however, we will be adding items to our facebook and blog pages over the coming weeks.  In the meantime, we would like to wish you a Happy Easter and trust that you have a safe and enjoyable year of riding ahead.

Geraint & Jan…….. The ‘s
