04. DragonMotoTours Luxembourg & Eifel Tour : 21st - 25th May 2015

Please note that this tour is now fully booked, however, you can contact us to be considered for a cancellation should it arise or to enquire about any of our other tours.

For our second tour into Europe of 2015 we are riding to Luxembourg and the Eifel region for the Spring May Bank Holiday. Our destination is in the Our Valley where we shall be staying in the town of Vianden which is on the border of Luxembourg and Germany and nestles on the River Our overlooked by its impressive 14th century castle.

We have an early Eurotunnel crossing to Calais on the Thursday morning and after travelling through the Ardennes and riding across the French and Belgian borders alongside the River Meuse, we will head into Luxembourg and onto our hotel which will be our base for the following four nights. You may want to arrive hungry and enjoy drinks on the sun terrace before we sit down to a 4 course dinner.

The options for excellent motorcycling routes are endless from our destination location where you can remain within the country of Luxembourg for the day enjoying billiard smooth tarmac, cross the border into Belgium and visit some of the pretty towns and villages and the new Bastogne War Museum which is an hour from our hotel or ride into the Eifel region of Germany for the day on open flowing roads.

We have three ride-outs prepared for the time we are in the region. One will give you an opportunity to ride some of the smooth roads which flow through Luxembourg twisting through pretty woodlands and villages. We shall visit the pretty town of Diekirch and visit their National Museum of Transport before continuing our ride through the spectacular Mullerthal region which is also known as Luxembourg's Little Switzerland.

Another route will see us riding alongside the River Our as the road flows through the pretty wooded valley as you head north towards the Eifel region and the historic old town of Monschau which has many preserved half-timbered houses and narrow streets to meander through which have remained hardly unchanged for over 300 years. There will also be an opportunity for some motorcycling into the Eifel region nature park on fantastic open roads through this low mountain range along some of the volcano route visiting an old town for coffee which was once a Celtic settlement and which is built on a 10,000 year old volcanic crater, (hopefully the sound of motorbike engines accelerating along the roads will not create any volcanic activity!!).

This tour is not all about riding as you may wish to take time off the bikes and make the most the town of Vianden, spending time at the many cafes and bars or visit the impressive castle which is one of the largest and finest feudal residences of the Roman and Gothic eras in Europe. You may wish to take the chairlift which climbs out of the town to a height of 450 metres giving you a wonderful view of the town and river and you will be pleased to know that there is a cafe at the top of the hill.

Our route to Calais on the last day of the tour will take you into the Belgian Ardennes for morning coffee before we pick up the free autoroute as we make our way to the Eurotunnel terminal for a mid-afternoon crossing back to the UK.

Total mileage for this tour will be approximately 1,000 miles if you join us on our planned ride-outs.
