05. DragonMotoTours Argyll & Bute, Scotland Tour : 11th - 16th June 2015

Please note that this tour is now fully booked, however, you can contact us to be considered for a cancellation should it arise or to enquire about any of our other tours.

This is the first of two tours we have this year in Scotland where the roads are grippy and the scenery is simply breathtaking.  We shall be staying in South Lanarkshire for the first and last night of this tour with three nights in Argyll and Bute.

Our meeting point will be near Blackburn with a route taking you through the Yorkshire Dales National Park towards Cumbria and into the Lake District for lunch as we combine the best in A and B class roads before riding the Dalveen Pass into the Scottish borders and onto our hotel.

A direct route from our first night hotel to where we are staying near Loch Long could take you just over the hour with around 17 miles being along the shores of the largest stretch of inland water in the UK - that of Loch Lomond, but....... we have put together a route for the second day of the tour which will give you an opportunity to experience so much more of the Trossachs National Park, taking you through the Torrie Forest and over the twists and turns of the Pass of Leny.  The scenery in the Glens is stunning and will whet your appetite for the following days as we ride through this western part of Scotland.

Whilst staying in Argyll and Bute there will be two full days in which you will be able to take in some of the best motorcycling roads whilst seeing the full beauty of the area.  This region of Scotland comprises over 3,000 miles of coastline and the route from Inverary to Campbeltown is one of those open, flowing roads which has beautiful beaches to walk on and pretty harbours and cafes to stop at to refuel yourself before you ride some more!  Bute is easily accessible from our hotel and you may enjoy taking in a short ferry crossing to ride the 22 miles of coastal road around the island.

Vast expanses of water such as Loch Awe and Loch Fyne give you that "wow factor" and then we have the Glens and Passes to ride on smooth ribbons of tarmac and open roads as we motorcycle through the mountains and forests.  Along our routes are many places to stop and while away some time whilst taking in the scenery and we may just have to pay a visit to the famous Green Welly cafe in Tyndrum which always provides a great welcome to riders and pillions alike.  You can have lunch in a small seaside harbour or sample some of the excellent sea food on offer at the Loch Fyne Deli which is only a short distance from our hotel.

As we leave Scotland we will ride south towards our departure point for the tour in the Lancashire area, taking in the Devils Beeftub which is reported as one of the finest motorcycling roads in Dumfries and Galloway, (and we can second that!), before combining some stretches of motorway with excellent riding roads through Cumbria.

Total mileage for this tour will be approximately 1,200 miles if you join us on our planned ride-outs.
