09. DragonMotoTours Shropshire & Herefordshire Tour : 23rd - 26th July 2015

Please note that this tour is now fully booked, however, you can contact us to be considered for a cancellation should it arise or to enquire about any of our other tours.

This is a short 4 day summer break in two counties of England where you will be able to ride through unspoilt countryside on quiet roads with the Shropshire Hills and the apple orchards of the Cider county of Hereford as a backdrop.

We shall be staying in the town of Ironbridge which nestles in a gorge on the River Severn.  This small town became part of a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1986 and is famous for a 30 metre cast iron bridge that spans the river, it is home to the Merrythought Teddy Bear company who still manufacture in the town and 10 museums dedicated to the iron and tile industries with one at Blists Hill which has recreated life in a Victorian Town and which is just short of 3 miles from our hotel.

Our meeting point will be on the outskirts of the oldest market town in North Shropshire and we shall take in the Shropshire Hills on our way through the county to our hotel which will be our base for the 3 nights of the tour.  There is much to see and do in and around Ironbridge should you wish to take some time off the bike or just a short ride away is the museum at RAF Cosford.  Alternatively you can join us on our planned ride-outs which will take you through these two English counties and as both are bordered by Wales we will be including some of the excellent welsh border motorcycling roads that we like to ride.

Herefordshire is essentially made up of 5 distinctive parts with the city of Hereford at its heart.  To the north, bordering Shropshire, is Mortimer Country which is distinctive for its rolling hills and open roads which flow through a wonderful unspoilt area full of castles.  We shall ride through the Golden Valley which starts at the famous Town of Books and is sheltered by the Black Mountains.  The Malvern Hills are to the east of the county and the Wye Valley, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, lies to the south.  This county also has a strong tradition of farm cider-making and we shall include a visit to one of the many Cider Mills in the area.

As we ride through both Shropshire and Herefordshire, you will be able to take in spectacular views from the top of Clee Hill, ride through some of the prettiest villages in England on the Black & White Village trail where each community has its own character with timbered and half-timbered houses to admire and there are plenty of tea-rooms to visit as we enjoy the roads over the hills and mountains and through the valleys and gorges.

We aim to show you the best of the roads, scenery and locations that these two English counties have to offer and this tour will make for a relaxing start to your summer motorcycling season.

Total mileage for this tour will be approximately 600 miles if you join us on our planned ride-outs.
