11. DragonMotoTours Vercors & Morvans, France Tour : 21st - 29th August 2015

Please note that this tour is now fully booked, however, you can contact us to be considered for a cancellation should it arise or to enquire about any of our other tours.

This 9 day tour takes you through two exceptional regions for motorcycling in France.  Our first destination location is The Vercors National Park which combines roads which wind through narrow gorges, flowing open roads atop the mountain plateaus and sections of twists and turns which blow your mind as you ride 14kms of bends as they snake their way down the mountainside of the Col de Rousset.

The second destination of this tour takes you to the Morvans region of Burgundy into a natural park which is stunningly beautiful with huge forests, rolling hills and lakes.  There are wide open roads to ride and combine this with series of tight bends of the Yonne, the routes around the Morvans lakes and roads empty of traffic as there are no major cities in the region, and you find yourself in an area just perfect for motorcyclists.

We start our tour riding through the Somme and Champagne regions of France and on to our first hotel situated in the Bourgogne region.  Next day we ride further south taking great roads through the Rhone valley on route to the Vercors where we will stay for the next 3 nights.  The hotel we have chosen here has both an indoor and an outdoor pool with terrace.  It is within a small town with several shops to wander around and diinner on the second evening in this location is at your own discretion where you can dine at one of the many bars and restaurants just a short walk from our hotel.

We have run two tours previously to this region of France and motorcycling in the Vercors gives you an opportunity to explore some fantastic roads such as Col d'Engins and Col de la Machine.  You could also be on the Route Napoleon within an hour, riding a section of it to Gap as part of a circular route we have on one of our planned ride-outs through the southern reaches of the National Park.  If you prefer a shorter day on your motorbike you can ride through the Gorges de la Bourne to see the "Hanging Houses" which appear to be suspended over the River Bourne.

On Day 5 we leave the Vercors heading north to the Morvans and the town of Autun which will be our base for the following 3 nights.  Our hotel is located in the centre of town and has private underground parking.  This small Roman town is ideally located to explore the National Park region and our ride-out routes will include the Lac des Settons which lie in the heart of the Morvans.

For our penultimate day we ride north to our hotel in the Champagne-Ardenne region before we return to the UK on the Saturday with a mid-afternoon return crossing on Eurotunnel.

Total mileage for this tour will be approximately 1,800 miles if you join us on our planned ride-outs.
