This tour does what it says in the title and gives you a Flavour of Spain riding on excellent motorcycling roads through some of the lesser travelled parts of the country, exploring mountains, National and Regional Parks and the beautiful beaches on the Mediterranean coast.
We start and end the tour with an overnight sailing on Brittany Ferries and in between we have 10 nights in 4* hotels where you will enjoy regional cuisines at both breakfasts and dinner with wine included with each evening meal. Our first destination is for a 2 night stay in the historic capital of Castile. Our ride-out the following day is to the Palentina Mountains, climbing through unspoilt countryside to over 1400m with spectacular views over the region.
Heading into the heart of Spain where we spend 3 nights in Don Quixote country with routes planned for both days, riding on flowing roads through landscapes which vary from flat, arid open spaces to lagunas and vineyards. We have lunch in the Cabaneros National Park riding through olive groves, forests and mountains on route.
Leaving central Spain we head to the Mediterranean coast for the next 3 nights crossing provinces into Castello. Our hotel is located on the beach complete with its own beach bar and hammocks on the balconies.
Our ride-outs planned for the next two days include the Desert de les Palmes mountains which rise dramatically from the sea and stand to the west of our hotel and the following day we ride into the Sierra D’Espada National Park through rustic villages and on yet more superb riding roads.
On leaving the coast we ride north along a route taken by El Cid to a cathedral city in the province of Soria. Our hotel has thermal baths which you may wish to use to relax at the end of a day of riding through yet more stunning scenery. We have 2 nights in this location with our ride-out route taking you through forests, onto high elevated plateaus which then descend via amazing series of hairpins and curves into the valleys. This region has some of our favourite riding roads.
For our last day in Spain we head north through the Rio Lobos Canyons and return via some of the elevated riding roads used on the first day of the tour, which always look and feel very different when ridden in the opposite direction! Our sailing is from the port of Bilbao with an overnight crossing to Portsmouth where we are due to arrive mid-afternoon.
