Having last toured Devon in 2017 we are looking forward to returning to the county this year. The
region offers a variety of roads and scenery to enjoy whether it be the beautiful coastlines, craggy
coves or the wide open spaces of the moors.
The tour starts with a welcome dinner at our first hotel located in Somerset, the hotel has a pool and
gym which you can use upon arrival. The following day we ride through the village of Wiveliscombe
known as “The Gateway to Exmoor” on our way into Devon. We will then be based for the following
4 nights in Barnstaple, the oldest and largest town in North Devon. The hotel is a 15 minute stroll
from the town centre and allows for easy access to the surrounding network of roads which will take
us on our ride-outs each day.
Devon is sandwiched between two separate coastlines, to the north is the Bristol Channel and Celtic
Sea and to the south is the English Channel. Our tour has been planned to switch you between the
hustle and bustle of some of the seaside resorts to the more rugged countryside and dramatic Tors.
We have three ride-outs planned taking you through a variety of landscapes from the flowing roads
of the Exmoor National Park to the sparse countryside of the Dartmoor National Park home to wild
ponies and spectacular views. We will ride along the North Devon coastal road descending into the
pretty seaside villages of Lynmouth and Lynton with one nestled high above the other and
connected by a cliff railway which is well worth a ride offering lovely views out to sea. We are sure
that before we ride back to the hotel, you will want to call in at one of the welcoming tearooms
where you can enjoy a famous Devon cream tea!
No tour to Devon would be complete without a visit to Clovelly, whilst we have come to this region
to ride our motorbikes you may just wish to step back in time and visit this seaside village where no
vehicles are allowed. You park at the top of the hill and walk down the cobbled streets surrounding
yourself with the smells and sounds of Devon life and take in yet more amazing views of the North
On leaving North Devon we will return through the Exmoor National Park and the Quantock Hills,
crossing over the River Severn and riding once again through the pretty Wye Valley. We’ll have
lunch in Herefordshire continuing north through the Shropshire Hills before arriving at our dispersal
point for the tour on the outskirts of Shrewsbury.
