This early summer tour to Spain includes two mini cruises from and to the UK and ten nights in four stunning locations. Our tour has been designed to take you on some of the best motorcycling roads in Northern Spain and the eastern coastal region of Catalonia whilst providing you with an opportunity to take in not only stunning scenery and varied landscapes but also to enjoy cuisine typical of the regions.
Your tour starts with an overnight sailing into Santander. After disembarkation we make the most of the open, flowing Spanish riding roads crossing over the Los Tornos Mountain Pass and on to our first hotel in the Cinco Villas district, a historic region bordering Navarra and the province of Aragon. The Parador is located within a walled medieval town offering views of the surrounding mountains and valleys and our ride-out the following day will take you through the Roncal Valley in the Southern Spanish Pyrenees and along the shores of the Yesa Reservoir.
We leave the mountains behind and head through the open landscapes of the Province of Aragon on a cracking route passing the race circuit and through the National Reserve of the Puertos de Beseit, a region of limestone craggy rocks and doorway to the Iberian Peninsula which will be our base for 4 nights in a family run hotel on Alfacs Bay.
With the Mediterranean sea on your doorstep and a pool at the hotel you can unwind and soak up some Spanish sunshine or join us on our planned ride-outs which include routes through the El Maestrat and Sierra de Guidar, historical mountain ranges in the Iberico mountains with terrific riding roads, stunning scenery and pretty villages which nestle amongst the rocky outcrops and ridges. We ride over the Puerto de Linares which, at over 1600 metres, offers fantastic views of the region and visit Morella famous for its 14th century castle which sits on a massive rock above the ancient walled city.
On leaving the coast we travel north along a route taken by El Cid to a cathedral town on the Ucero river in the province of Soria. We have 2 nights in our thermal spa hotel with a ride-out route the following day taking you on some of our favourite roads in the region, through forests, onto high elevated plateaus which then descend via amazing series of hairpins and curves into the valleys below.
As we head further north through the Rio Lobos Canyons we ride into the Rioja region, famous for its wines and scenery where we shall stay in a Parador which was originally a 12th century hospital and retains many original features such as the gothic archways. Our ride-out from this hotel will take in the National Parks through the Urbasa and Andia mountains.
We have less than 100 miles on our last day as we ride to the port of Bilbao for an overnight sailing with arrival into Portsmouth mid-afternoon on the Friday.
