"Our two centre, 10 day motorcycle tour of the Vosges Mountains in Eastern France is ideally suited for both riding and sightseeing..."

Our two centre, 10 day motorcycle tour of the Vosges Mountains in Eastern France is ideally suited for both riding and sightseeing given the nature of the flowing roads, scenery and historical chateaus and villages through both the National Park in the north and the Ballons of the south.

The tour will start with an afternoon crossing to France via Eurotunnel followed by a welcome dinner at our first hotel of the tour just south of Calais with a ride the following day to our next hotel in the Duchy of Luxembourg. We cross through Germany into France as we ride through the northern Vosges National Park to the picturesque village of La Petite Pierre which will be our base for 3 nights.

We have ride-outs planned taking in the tree-lined roads and rocky outcrops of the Northern Vosges. The region is dotted with ruins of old chateaus providing vantage points to take in the views of the National Park forests and villages. We ride over the Col du Pigeonnier have lunch in Germany before crossing back into France. The wine routes of the Alsace region, which borders the Rhine Valley, is home to excellent motorcycling routes which vary from open flowing roads to those which snake their way up and down the various Cols.

Continuing our tour we ride to the Southern Vosges over the Col du Donon the highest peak in the Northern Vosges and through the vineyards to the 16th century village of Riquewihr which is officially registered as one of the “most beautiful villages in France”, before crossing into the Southern Vosges to the lakeside town of Gerardmer, our base for the next 3 nights.

Our spa hotel is ideally located to discover the National Park of the Ballons des Vosges. We have ride-outs over several of the mountain passes including the Col de la Schlucht, Col du Bonhomme, Ballon d’Alsace and the Col du Hundsdruck.. We ride along the Routes des Cretes a fantastic 55 mile stretch of road at an elevation of over 3,000 feet with stunning scenery over the forests of the Southern Vosges. We stop at the Grand Ballon, the highest peak in the Alsace region which, on a clear day, provides you with spectacular views over the Rhine Valley and the high Alps in the distance.

On our penultimate day we ride north through the Lorraine National Park on open flowing roads typical of Northern France to our hotel in the Argonne forest for the last evening of the tour. The final day starts with a cross country ride through the Champagne region before joining the autoroute near Reims to Calais with a mid-afternoon Eurotunnel crossing to the UK.
