Due to the popularity of our Austrian Tyrol tour in the summer of 2018, we are returning this year to enjoy the superb motorcycling roads which cross through the spectacular mountain landscapes. Over the 13 days of this European tour we stay in four countries in superb motorcycling locations with our main focus being the four nights where we stay in the Tyrol with easy access to terrific riding roads such as the passes of Arlberg, Silvretta and Timmelsjoch, to name but a few!
We begin our tour with an afternoon crossing to France via Eurotunnel. Included in this tour are all of your evening meals and breakfasts and we start with a welcome dinner at our first hotel on the outskirts of Lille. Next day we cross through the Belgian Ardennes and Luxembourg into the Saarland region of Germany for the following two nights. Our ride-out on day 3 of the tour will follow the routes of the Saar and Mosel rivers which flow through the hills and forests of the region. As we continue south through Germany towards Austria we spend two days exploring the Black Forest. Our family run spa hotel is located in the Kinzig river valley in the heart of the forest and surrounded by superb motorcycling roads such as the well-known and scenic B500.
Crossing into Austria you are greeted firstly by a very picturesque wide open valley nestled between the Alps before we ascend the Hahntennjoch Pass which rises to over 1800m at its summit giving you a taster of the roads to come over the next few days. A warm welcome will be extended to you by our hotel owner and his family who cater well for motorcyclists in the summer months having access to a motorbike garage on site.
We will be based in this one hotel for the next four nights providing you the opportunity to unpack and either relax at the hotel and soak up the history of the local town and castle or join us on any one or all three of the ride-outs we have planned. We guarantee you will return each evening for dinner with aching jaws brought on by smiling at the spectacular alpine scenery, the beautiful lakes and the wonderful riding roads of the Austrian Tyrol.
One of our routes will take you through the Ammergau Alps, crossing the border between Germany and Austria, we have lunch overlooking the beautiful Lake Plansee and follow its shores through the Lechtal Alps. More mountain roads follow on the next two ride-outs with the curves and hairpins of the Arlberg and Flexen Passes and the panoramic high road of the Silvretta Pass which extends for over 13 miles with 34 curves! If you like switchback bends then the Timmelsjoch High alpine road is for you, the scenery is spectacular particularly from the summit where you look out over the Otztaler Alps and pay a visit to the highest located motorcycle museum in Europe.
On leaving Austria we ride to the Alsace region near Strasbourg for one evening before moving on to our last hotel of the tour for two nights. Also a family owned hotel, this is set in a small tranquil community in the heart of the Argonne Forest region. Having left the high mountains behind you will become aware of a significant contrast of scenery in this region, however, the motorcycling roads are just as good with open countryside to be enjoyed. On the final day of the tour we head back to Calais through the Champagne-Ardenne region of France before joining the autoroute to the Eurotunnel terminal and our dispersal point.
