Luxembourg may be small in size but delivers a lot for a short summer motorcycling break with the riding roads of the Ardennes forests and nature parks to enjoy in the north, the rocky outcrops of the Mullerthal in the east and the Sure River valley to the west.
Following an afternoon crossing on Eurotunnel, we start our tour with a short ride through the open French countryside with a welcome dinner at our first hotel. Next day our route takes you through Northern France into the Belgian Ardennes and the Meuse River valley before we cross into Luxembourg. The tour is centred in the town of Clervaux, staying in one family run hotel for three nights. Included in the tour are your breakfasts and dinner is carefully prepared by the owner of the hotel each evening using locally sourced produce. There is a pool and gym at the hotel which you are free to use during your stay.
There is much to see and do during our stay in the Duchy of Luxembourg and our ride-outs have been planned to take you on some of the best paved roads in Northern Europe. The options for excellent motorcycling routes are endless from our destination location where you can remain within the country of Luxembourg for the day, cross the border into Belgium and visit some of the pretty towns and villages of the Ardennes or ride into the Mosel region of Germany on open, flowing roads.
Staying within the borders of Luxembourg we have a ride-out planned where you can make the most of the excellently maintained roads this country has to offer. The route will include a ride through the rocky outcrops of the Mullerthal region which is also known as "Little Switzerland" and through the vineyards of the southern part of the country. The route continues into the Haute-Sure region with lunch in the small village of Esch-sur-Sure a pretty community built on a small spur of land within a sharp meander of the river Sauer.
You can join us for a day of riding in and out of Germany and Luxembourg with our route taking you through the Eifel-Ardennes with a visit to Bernkastel-Kues, this twin town is often called the heart of the Mosel. The old town of Bernkastel is full of charm with half-timbered houses and castles while Kues is famous for its wineries and taverns. The vineyards surrounding the town are amongst the oldest in Germany and provide a superb backdrop as our route follows the path of the river and are best seen from the boat ride which is included in our visit to this town.
On day five of the tour we cross the border through the forests of the French Ardennes and into the Argonne forest region home to some of our favourite riding roads in Northern France. The open nature of the landscape and the quiet country roads make for a very relaxing day of riding before arriving at our final hotel of the tour. That evening there will be excellent French cuisine to enjoy together with regional wine and coffee. The following morning we have a country route before picking up the autoroute near Reims, the capital of the Champagne region riding north to Calais for an afternoon Eurotunnel crossing to the UK.
