..the scenery makes an impression on you, with rolling hills and open countryside intertwined with a variety of roads which lend themselves to motorcycling, so what better way to spend a long spring weekend than joining us on this 4 day tour of the gateway to Scotland.
The meeting point of this tour is to be confirmed in due course...
As we ride north on day 2 of our tour we’ll take you through the Yorkshire Dales National Park and over the Buttertubs and Hartside Passes both of which are excellent motorcycling routes with plenty of tight twists and turns together with beautiful scenery to enjoy. After a hearty lunch in Alston we cross from England into Scotland and onto our destination hotel via The Devil’s Beef Tub, one of the region’s iconic roads which will certainly whet your appetite for the ride-outs we have planned for the following two days.
Peebles is ideally located in the heart of the Borders straddling the River Tweed with our hotel having excellent facilities such as an indoor pool and sauna and is only a short walk from the historic town should you wish to take a day off the bike. Alternatively, you can join us on our ride-outs which have been designed to show you some of the first rate riding routes surrounding the location.
Our planned ride-outs will take you on some of the most amazing motorcycling roads in the region including the wide open roads which follow the River Tweed and the shores of St Mary’s Loch, the largest stretch of water in southern Scotland. We follow the route of the Talla Reservoir and Dam, a narrower road but with spectacular scenery and a twisty ascent through the Moffat Hills. Take in the Dalveen Pass where you can savour 20+ miles with bend after bend as you ride through the Lowther Hills, some of the highest mountains of southern Scotland. Crossing into the Northumberland National Park we ride through the Cheviot Hills and cross back into Scotland at Carter Bar with a visit on the return route to our hotel to the Hawick Museum which houses an excellent display of Steve Hislop’s motorcycle memborabilia and bikes.
Our final day takes in a reverse route along The Devil’s Beef Tub road towards Moffat crossing out of the Borders into Dumfries & Galloway through open countryside and rolling hills. After coffee and homemade scones at our morning stop we make our way south to our dispersal point for the tour in the Eden District of Cumbria.
