"The Wild Atlantic Way is the main feature of our 7 day tour of the South West of Ireland..."

....... for the summer of 2021.  This coastal route is defined as one of the longest in the world and is a truly captivating location for motorcycling.  We have been visiting this part of Ireland for a few years now to enjoy the stunning landscapes and sea views.

Our tour starts as we meet at Holyhead ferry port for a morning sailing to Dublin.  On arrival our afternoon ride takes you through the Wicklow Mountains National Park and onto our hotel for the first night on the outskirts of Kilkenny.

The following day our route includes a scenic ride over The Vee Drive in the Knockmealden Mountains with stunning views of the valley below before we pick up The Wild Atlantic Way south of Cork.  We have included a lunch stop overlooking Courtmacsherry Bay and the Atlantic Ocean before continuing to follow the coastline as the road curves around headlands such as Old Head and passed sandy beaches.

When we arrive at our 4* hotel in Bantry Bay, you can unpack and relax as we are based here for the following 4 nights.   The hotel overlooks the waterfront, has full leisure facilities and is a short walk from the picturesque town with the hills of Sheep’s Head and the Caha Mountains as a backdrop.  Our three ride-outs have been planned to include the three main surrounding peninsulas with their unique rugged landscapes and views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Close to our base location is The Beara Peninsula, stretching for 30 miles through unspoilt landscapes with our route including a ride over the passes of Caha and Healy both of which are very scenic roads which snake through the Caha Mountains.   To the south of our hotel is Mizen Head, the most south westerly point in Ireland at the end of the Mizen Peninsula.  From the visitor centre you can take a walk over the Arched Bridge or boost your fitness taking the 99 steps down (and up!) to the Signal Station.  To the north is The Dingle Peninsula, stretching 30 miles into the Atlantic Ocean dominated by rugged mountains including Mount Brandon, Ireland’s second highest peak and the ride over Conor Pass offers stunning views whichever way you cross it.

No visit to this part of Ireland would be complete without a ride around The Ring of Kerry, a National Park which is arguably one of the most well-know riding routes in the area with a wide variety of scenery to take in ranging from the rugged mountains as you climb out of Killarney, the quieter roads of the Black Valley and Ballaghasheen Pass to the coastal road of The Wild Atlantic Way.  Join us for lunch in Ireland’s only beach bar and take the Leprachaun crossing to enjoy The Ladies View overlooking the lakes of the Killarney National Park.

Leaving the west coast of Ireland behind we have a leisurely route travelling east through County Cork to our final hotel of the tour overlooking the River Slaney Estuary in County Wexford before riding back to Dublin Port on the Saturday through the picturesque village of Avoca and the Wicklow Mountains before catching our mid-afternoon ferry crossing to Holyhead.
